Não conheço a distribuição Linuxmint, mas de uma maneira geral, o linux aceita drivers do windows. No caso do Mageia, por exemplo, existe uma interface gráfica para habilitar esses drivers. Baixe o driver do adaptador e tente instalá-lo para ver se dá certo. O programa que faz isso, se não me engano, é o ndiswrapper.
